Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long are the tours?
Most of our walking tours last around 3 hours, depending on the group’s pace and energy. Some may stretch a little longer when the conversation flows, but we always respect your time.
2. How much walking is involved?
Expect to walk 3 to 5 kilometers (2 to 3 miles) during each tour. These are slow-paced, immersive walks, not hikes, but they’re best enjoyed by people who love walking and don’t mind a few detours or long conversations on the move. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended!
3. What happens in case of rain?
The tour goes on! Tokyo doesn’t stop for weather, and neither do we, unless conditions are unsafe. A little rain often makes the atmosphere even more memorable. If the weather is severe (e.g. typhoon warnings), we’ll contact you with options to reschedule, adjust the tour, or issue a refund. Please read our Cancellation Policy for further details.
4. Can I bring children?
Our tours are designed for adults and older teens (some tours). Children under 16 are not permitted, as the content, walking distance, and group dynamic are better suited for mature participants. Minimum age requirements are listed on each tour’s page.
5. How many people are in each group?
We keep our groups small and intimate, usually no more than 6 or 8 guests. This allows space for real interaction, flexibility, and meaningful conversations, without the need for flags, headsets, or microphones.
6. Do your guides speak English?
Yes, fluently. All our guides are professional storytellers and long-term residents of Japan. They guide with personality, deep local knowledge, and a true passion for connecting with people. We currently offer tours in English and Italian, with French and Chinese coming soon.
7. Can I book a private tour?
Absolutely. We love crafting personalized experiences. If you'd like a private tour, please reach out to us via email or WhatsApp, and we’ll help design something special just for you.
8. Where do the tours start and end?
Each tour has its own meeting point and end location, clearly listed on its individual page. We always finish near a train station or easy-to-navigate area, so you can move on with ease.
9. Can I pay on the day of the tour?
No, we require advance payment by credit card via a secure booking link. This helps us avoid no-shows and allows us to focus entirely on preparing an excellent experience for you and your group.
10. What if I’m running late?
We get it, Tokyo can be tricky to navigate. We can allow a 10-minute grace period, but after that, the tour will start out of respect for those who arrived on time. If you're running late, please message us immediately. We'll do our best to help you catch up, when possible.
11. Why aren’t you on GetYourGuide or Viator?
Great question. The short version? We’d rather invest in people than platforms. OTAs often charge tour operators between 25% and 50% in commissions, and their search rankings are not based solely on quality, but on who pays the most. That’s not a game we want to play. We choose to grow through honest reviews, word of mouth, and meaningful experiences, not through bidding wars or algorithms. That way, we can pay our guides fairly, keep our quality high, and stay true to what matters: you.
